Sciatica

Sciatica is pain that spreads along the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back through the hips and buttocks and down each leg. Sciatica most commonly occurs when a herniated disc or bony growth puts pressure on part of the nerve. This causes swelling, pain, and often numbness in the affected leg.
